Skip sizes and choosing the right one.

What Skip Size do i need?

For a small clear-out or a single room, a 4 yard skip is usually enough. For a bathroom or kitchen refit, most people go for a 6 yard. Larger renovations and building projects typically need an 8 yard or above.

If you're not sure, call us on 01409 253908 and describe the job. We will tell you what they'd recommend.

Can I overfill a skip?

No. Skips must not be filled above the top of the sides. An overfilled skip cannot be legally transported, and we may not be able to collect it until the load is reduced. Fill it level with the rim and you won't have a problem.

Permits & placements.

Do I need a permit for a skip?

If the skip is going on your own driveway or private land, you won't need a permit. If it needs to go on a public road or pavement for access, we can instead offer a 40 minute 'wait and load' service - at no extra cost.

Do You Recycle?

What happens to the waste after collection?

It goes through our own on-site transfer station. We're able to recycle at least 90% (by weight) of all waste that passes through. Waste is sorted, recycled where possible, and disposed of correctly and legally.

What can & Can't go in the skip?

Can I put soil and rubble in a skip?

Yes. Soil, rubble, bricks, concrete and sand can all go in a skip. Bear in mind that heavy materials fill weight capacity quickly, even if the skip doesn't look full. Let us know if your load is mostly heavy materials when you book.

Can I put a mattress or furniture in a skip?

Generally yes. Mattresses, sofas, and most furniture can go in a skip. If you have specific items you're unsure about, check when you book.

Can I put electrical items or batteries in a skip?

Most small electrical items are fine. Fridges and freezers are an exception as they contain refrigerants that must be removed separately. Batteries should also be disposed of separately.

Can I put paint or chemicals in a skip?

No. Liquid waste, paints, oils, solvents, and chemicals cannot go in a standard skip. These are classified as hazardous and need to be disposed of separately.

Can I put tyres in a skip?

Not as general waste, but tyres can be disposed of by prior arrangement. They are charged from £18.00 inc VAT. Call us to arrange before your skip is delivered.

Can asbestos Or plasterboard go in a skip?

No. Asbestos & plasterboard must never go in a standard skip. It is a controlled and hazardous material with specific legal requirements around handling, transport, and disposal. Please contact the office on 01409 253908 to arrange disposal.

Hire period and collections.

How long can I keep a skip?

Standard hire is 14 days. If you need longer, call us before the period is up and we can arrange an extension.

How do I arrange collection?

When the skip is full or you're ready for it to go, call us on 01409 253908 and we'll book it in. Most collections happen within a day or two depending on availability.

Can you do same day skip hire?

Depending on availability, yes. Call us on 01409 253908 and we'll let you know what we can do.
